U Can Change the World With Every Bite.

I came across this documentary when I read Jillian Michaels Facebook post on something similar to this one. This documentary is called Food Inc. Below is the trailer if you want to know what the docu's all about.

These are the end credits quotes from the documentary of Food Inc.:

You can vote to change this system.

Buy from companies that treat workers, animals and the environment with respect.

When you go to the supermarket, choose foods that are in season.

Buy foods that are organic.

Know what's in your food.

Read labels.

Know that you buy

The average meal travels 1500 miles from the farm to the supermarket.

Buy foods that are grown locally, shop at the farmers market.

Plant a garden(even a small one)

Everyone has a right to healthy food.

In Food Inc. you can witness how disgusting the cattle industry is where the cows live standing in their dung(najis) their whole lives. These dungs are high up to their buku lali(ankle). They are so over crowded and even the sick sometimes aren't being taken care of.

Apart from that the cows are being fed with corn. What's wrong with corn I say? Corn is not supposed to be fed to cows. Their supposed to be fed with grass. Cows semula jadinya are grass eaters. Their food has been  changed due to the low cost of corn if you compare to grass which is quite expensive. So when these cows eat corn, they get fat. The other problem that the new diet creates is a sickness that has mutated into another whole new level which is a new type of E.Coli which kills people yearly in the United States.

There are also stories of how chickens being kept in  long dark places and never see the light of day from day 1 till they have been slaughtered. These chickens are bred to be fatten soooo fast some of them can't even stand up and move their body! Some can't even stand it and die. It was so horrific! Back then in the USA the Black-Americans used to collect the chickens but now, they hire Mexicans to do it because some of them do not have proper documents. That being said, without proper documents whatever they saw in that long dark chicken coup they have no rights to even say anything at all! So usually they just do their job and shut their mouth.

This movie has opened my eyes about processed food. I don't really buy processed food that much except for occasional RM10 fish fillet per box or cheese sausages. I don't buy burger patties of any kinds because I dislike red meat.

Whatever turmoil that Malaysia has currently, Alhamdulillah I'm blessed that our food is still not as artificial as in the United States. Our cheapest food is still wholesome food like fish, rice, meat, veges... etc and not food that come from fast food restaurants! Yalah... you still can get cheap prices if you eat at some kampung warungs right?

Malaysian kids can still visit the Ayamas farms and our chickens and cattles can see the sunlight. Alhamdulillah. I pray that our small country won't become as greedy and would treat their animals with respect. I think that's what Halal is all about. Syukurlah Islam has rules and regulations about cleanliness and how to deal with binatang ternakan.

Although that most prices are going up, think about the good things that our country has done to us. If not much but the tiniest part will do.
