30th July 2009 menu update

Salam,
Ok, 4 hari akan datang aku bet musti cheating ehehehe. So pagik aku akan makan shakes, lunch + dinner, normal meals. Ala2 maintenance menu pun ada gak lah nih [eleh, cheating lah, malu pulak nak ngaku yer :P]. Ok!

8:00am breakfast
Cappu shakes: 4f1+2F3+400ml plain water
1 mug teamix
1L plain water

12:00pm brunch with Isma+Fara at Mak Long
1/4 plate of nasik putih
1 slice of ikan masak lemak
1/2 slice of pejeri nenas
1 mug teamix
600ml plain water

Maka berkenal2an lah Fara dan Isma hihihi. Fara kompius apasal Isma macam kenal semua budak Vokay! lepas aku citer Isma nih 1 UTMKL dengan haku then baru Fara paham. Budak2 Vokay Balik Pulau 1994-1995 lepas SPM, hampir semua masuk UTMKL hahaha. Sekolah baru bukak, so baper kerat jer budak2. Fara pun UTM gak, tapi dia g UTM Skudai.

Masa dah kuo dari Mak Long g kat kete, berlaku satu kejadian, picit2 remote, tak mo bunyik pulak. Last2 bukak pakai key terus lah, apalagik, bunyik bagai nak rak, macam haku pulak pencurik kete. Fara siap bukak manual carik cemana nak disalarmkan balik bunyik yg bingit itu! Aku dok carik lah button nak reset, tak jumpak2. haih! tau naik kete saja, jadik apa2, zero, apa pun tak tau! Aku terus call Pak Koq [hubby Isma, dia kan pomen]. Dia kata masukkan kunci dulu, start, then tekan security or reset button]. Aku cakap dah tekan dah, tak der mender pon kuo. Tuh mcm bukan button reset, tuh cuma indicator showing security ON! Huhuhu... tapi buat jugaklah! Ntah cemana, erkk.. jadik ok. tak bunyik dah alarm yg bingit utu :-s. Uhuks! tapi haku masih tak puas hati sebab aku tau itu bukan button reset! Aper2 pon, maceh lah Pak Koq. Membantu wanita yang lemah ini akekeke...

7:30pm dinner with Fara at Pak Husin Tomyam, Sungai Ara
1 plate of nasik putih
1 bowl of tomyam campur
1 plate of kailan ikan masin
Ikan 3 rasa
1 glass of teh O limau panas

Tempat pertama aku bawak Fara g jenjalan dalam banyak2 tempat kat Penang nih ialah Queensbaymall. Boleh di ampunkan tak? Hahaha! Aku kan seorang remaja ayu yang pemalu, mana reti jalan2 carik makan keh keh keh. Fara terkejut nampak tempat parking tulis "RM1.00 for the 1st 5 hours". Betol ker? Betol lah nih. WHAT!!! Kat KL xdernyer sengget2. 1/2 jam pertama sengget ada lah... wahahaha! Aku tau, aku tau! Bese Kanis yg dok bayar parking so masa dia bayar mcm kompius jer haku, apasal lah kuo banyak sgt duit sengget, masuk tak sampai 2 jam pun. tapi mmg betol. Sewa tapak jer RM1 setengah jam. kalo shopping 2 jam, tak ker RM4 tuh akekeke... tempat lain tak tahulah haku!

Tingat aku masa g Sunway Pyramid jumpa Alinx hariktuh, parking RM8 tuh fuh! Masa kuo tuh, haku macam nak geget orang tuh. RM8 leh g Queensbaymall 8 kali woooo... haiyahhh!!! Alinx pun cakap, lorrr apasal parking kat tepi nih, memang lah mahal. Uhuks! mana tahu, redah jer... hari tuh hari sesat sedunia. Miza + sesat = selamat sampai. So, oklah tuh akekeke...

Masuk2 Queensbaymall, kami berdua layan Transformer. Terok betol! Aku ingat aku sorang jer lagik tak tengok Transformer, rupanya Fara pun tak tengok lagik, hahaha... tuntutan wanita bekerjaya, mana sempat layan wayang abad ini hihihi. [Abeh! yg haku sorang2 g layan Harry Potter hariktuh, wanita bekerjaya mender? Cet!]. Sementara Fara survey2 kasut, haku g lohoq dululah sebab show kul 3. Masa kami sampai tuh baru kul 1.30pm. Masa rewang banyak lagik :D.

Lama giler film tuh. 2 jam 1/2. Kebas punggung haku! Kuo2 jer carik toilet. Hihihi. Lepas Asar, teman Fara membeli belah lagik. Dia jadik gak amik kasut dan bbrp barang lain yang tak masuk dalam list membeli hahaha. dengan aku2 pun membeli gak! Aku beli beg. Ahihihi, tak pernah aku beli beg sefeminin ini. Fara cakap, jangan takot nak mencuba benda baru. Mmm, macam pernah ku dengar jer ayat nih. tapi di mana yah???... Fara kompius sebab tak der orang shopping sgt dalam Queensbaymall. Aku cakap, jangan tertipu dengan hariknik Fara, hariknik hari Khamis, semua orang keje so mana ada orang! Ooo...

Lepas dinner, balik umah, Maghrib+Isyak, kuo balik huhuhu. G Tanjung Bungah carik CD hihihi... dekat kul 12 midnite sampai umah. Haku terlupa tertinggal hnset dalam umah. Nasib baik lah... balik 2-2 pengsan. Ngeh ngeh ngeh!

My New I-Pod Playlist!

A few weeks ago, I asked my followers on my Tosca Reno and Eat-Clean Diet facebook fan pages for their favorite workout tunes. I was bombarded with suggestions! Thank you!My iPod is full of hits to keep me motivated! I’ve been running longer distances and flying through my reps and sets. I’ve even been caught in full song and dance! Here’s the list so you can turn up the jams and make the most

Welcome to My Garden

Thanks to Heather who asked me about my garden yesterday. It has been a labor of love this year working away in the dirt when I get a few minutes here and there. Due to the lovely amount of rain gracing Ontario this summer my veggies are going crazy!! Now we just need a little bit of heat so the fruits can come out. The lettuce literally exploded out of the ground. We were eating salads for days

Week 29: Byr Puasa Day 4

Today I can finally byr puasa. Aunt Irma packed up, balik kampungs hahaha... if you get my drift. I think in order for me to feel okay(not bloated and having constipation) during fasting is waking up early like our sister here around 4am, drink Teamix and gulp up 2 litres of water. I find waking up at 5am doing all that is just impossible, terlalu kelam kabut.

My menu:

Sahur: Quarter rice, 2 chicken fillet+ spinach, nescafe, glasses of water until imsak.
Sungkai(iftar): Half rice, cabbages stir fried and 3 chicken fillet's of masak lemak chilli padi yum.

I admit, I am not strong enough to take HL during fasting. Need to try again!!
Albatross has a good discussion about 'inertia' and how it prevents us from getting started with our weight loss goals. She's lost about 30 pounds in the past year and has increased her fitness and health levels. See what she has to say about overcoming inertia and the four factors that helped her do it.
Happy Monday Clean Eaters!Did my fellow Canadian Clean Eaters happen to catch the last episode of Tosca: Flexing at 49 this weekend? What did you think? I can't believe 8 episodes flew by so quickly. I hope you've learned something about the world of fitness and maybe a little bit more about who I am.I really enjoyed how they finished the series with the final meal at home with my family. That's
I've decided to make my target weight for now at 58kg's(berat badan normal). It's more motivating that way. The second phase will be me reaching my ultimate weight around 45-48kg. Actually 48kg for me is sudah kurus and 45 is just tinggal tulang kali. Muahahaha... See la how kan.

Today hubby told me as he's a member of Fitness First if he can find someone who's super duper obese yg mcm our glamorous artis Shanie or Kuman and Kumin to enter The Biggest Loser Asia, he would be paid RM2500. Fortunately enough, we haven't reached a culture where you can see obese tahap 3 everywhere. He's been asking his friend's if there are others out there who wants to join the show because they are still searching for contestants.

So any of you yg ada member yg kena obese tahap 3 can message/write a comment me lah. Untung split half2 hihihi.

Week 29: Hubby Drinks Herbalife

I'm happy to say that my husband is taking Herbalife shakes during his training day since he joined the gym. I also gave him Teamix but he told me mcm tiada effect jak. Probably he needs more dosage of the Teamix since he's much more bigger and taller than I am. Will try that starting tomorrow.

As for me, I'm still trying to lose the weight I gained in KK. So far 71.1kg now. Itu pun not really taking Herbalife 2 times a day. Also I need to restock my HLs!

Thanks for the great review on the Eat-Clean Diet for Men...Read it here!!
Wow! Thank you to everyone who responded to my wisdom teeth post yesterday. You're all gems.Kelsey-Lynn is recovering well. She was actually eating Jell-o and mashed potatoes a few hours after the surgery. Last night I treated her to some unbelievably natural ice cream. I purchased it as a treat from the Hockley Valley Herb & Tea Company in Caledon East. I had a little bite of the vanilla. WOW!!!
Salam,
Nih ader sikit info pasal secret of stay healthy ahaks...

---------------------------------

I came across a study by some Harvard researchers in the British Journal of Medicine (2008) that I thought some of you might find interesting.

These researchers tracked the health and lifestyle choices of 77,782 middle-aged women for 24 years. That’s a pretty long time and only strengthens the conclusions of the study.

Of these 77,782 women, 8,882 died during the study. The researchers believe that if they just did the following four things, most of them would still be alive.

Those are:

Don’t smoke
Maintain a healthy weight
Exercise regularly
Eat a healthy diet
DUH.

Nothing new, right? Stuff you’ve heard and read here and millions of other places before, right?

But how many of you can say that yes, you follow all four recommendations?

There are more statistics that really drive the point home and I hope they open some eyes:

The women in the study who actually adhered to these four recommendations reduced their overall risk of premature death by 55%, had a 44% lower risk of dying from cancer and a WHOPPING 72% lower risk of dying from heart disease.

The bottom line?

Following these four simple, yet often ignored pieces of advice have such a HUGE impact on living longer and healthier lives (not to mention saving on medical expenditures) that you’d be a fool to ignore them.

So what are you waiting for?

Sparkly Factoid: Chocolate Lowers Blood Pressure

Just 30 calories per day of chocolate may be enough to help reduce your blood pressure. As far as serving sizes go, that’s about a Hershey’s Kiss worth.

But you have to eat the right kind of chocolate, according to Joseph Maroon, MD, author of The Longevity Factor. He recommends nonsweetened or minimally sweetened dark chocolate that’s at least 70 percent cocoa.

I am heading to the dental surgeon today with my 18-year-old in tow. She is about to have all 4 wisdom teeth yanked from her mouth. Not fun. My mom was kind enough to whip up some delicious soup yesterday for my daughter to enjoy when she comes to after the anesthetic wears off. I am going to whip up some mashed potatoes when I get home, but I need some more ideas...So I thought I would ask for

Visit from Mom

Hi Clean Eaters,Happy Tuesday to all of you. It's a little gray in my neck of the woods, but I'm still smiling because my mom has come to visit for a couple of days. I spent yesterday spick and spanning the house (hence the floor scrubbing photo from yesterday). My washing machine was on overdrive! I always want things to be special for my mom when she visits so that she is comfortable. She's

What's Your Favorite Way to Unwind???

Mine is...CLEANING THE KITCHEN FLOOR!!!Just kidding...a good book and sunshine is my relaxation mode of choice. What's yours?
So Saturday's show was a tense one!!! It's amazing to relive it all over again... and just as frustrating as the first time. Competing is such a challenge and I felt out of my league and unprepared which totally threw off my game. I was a mess that day. Most of you know the results at this point if you've been following my blog since the fall, but now you know exactly how I was feeling! Sometimes

DragonFire Factoid: Oops, We Got Fatter As A Nation...AGAIN!

Two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, and there’s no end in sight to this dangerous trend. According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2007 25.6 percent of Americans were obese. But in 2008, it crept up to 26.1 percent.

There are six states that can dubiously boast the fact that over 30 percent of their citizens are obese: Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Colorado is the only state in which less than 20 percent of its citizens are not obese.

Monday's shoot was incredible! It was such a departure from what we usually do with training and lifestyle shots. The weather held out and made it look like we were on location in a super tropical spot All the while we were shooting around Caledon East and in my backyard in Ontario! Not so tropical at all! We reviewed some of the images today and I was floored. They will be making their official

There's been so much buzz lately in the few "diet" sites I've visited about Holey Donuts, that I went to their site and signed up for emails on specials and such (as part of entering the giveaway that Hungry Girl promoted).

So, in my inbox today, I get a special--get free donut holes and credit of $5 on next order with a minimum 3 assortment order. Huh, sounds nice, I think.

Granted, these are not cheap to start with at a couple bucks per donut, and three bucks plus per cinnamon bun. But the cinnamon buns and the donut holes sounded like good options for the freezer for occasional treats. (I have a freezer UPSTAIRS, and I go up there so rarely, sometimes the treats I have get too old, like some VitaTop muffins. It's a good place to put the tempting stuff, as I have to get dressed, go outside with keys, go up a flight of stairs, go into a different apartment's kitchen if I want the treat. Hubby keeps some snack stuff up there, out of my way.)

I decide that the offer for free donut holes with purchase tempts me to get those buns. I go through part of the checkout process, then see that the delivery fee is over 18 bucks.

Ya know, that just up and killed that transaction.

I understand they need to deliver these by a certain window due to the nature of the product. Totally get it. But, these are pricey donut treats, and when you add price and delivery for the minimum of 3 assortments, well... I can't see paying about SIXTY BUCKS for 8 cinnamon buns and 6 flavored donuts just to get bonus donut holes for free.

If they'd given a credit on shipping, instead of free donuts or a future discount, I'd have ordered the obligatory 3 assortments. Yes, I really like the idea of a cinnamon bun right now. Or a boston creme donut hole. Too bad the speical offer wasn't free shipping or five buck shipping. That would make sampling the stuff less painful, more of a done deal by now.

Ah, well. Maybe down the road they'll be stocked in local specialty groceries or something, the way VitaTops made it to regular supermarkets and Whole Foods. Or maybe I'll get lucky and I'll win an assortment.

I'm curious. Answer me this: Would you pay 60 bucks roughly for 14 reduced fat dessert treats (not counting the special bonus offer now for the holes, which I assume is limited and not usual) without having a chance to sample them first, not knowing if you'll love them, just going on testimonials? Would you?

I think I'm afraid I'll not like them THAT much, the way I hated most of my first order of VitaTops (I only ended up being able to eat the chocolate ones, so ended up tossing a lot of muffins.)

So, have you tried these? Did you think they were okay or great or not-so-great? Did you think the price was commensurate with the quality? And did anyone else do what I did....get through most of the checkout and go, "Oh, no, I ain't paying THAT much in shipping!"?

Well, if you're braver or richer or more donut-obsessed than I am, here's the link to order. And if you want the free donut hole sample and five bucks credit on your second order, then you have to use the code Ldth . (Guessing it's for Lowfat DonuT Holes.) This code is only good for TODAY, the seventeeth.

On the plus side of treats, I ordered organic chocolate frozen bananas made from organic and raw ingredients for my next week's desserts. Hey, fruit and potassium and real cocoa and sweetened with agave nectar. More "whole" and healthful than donuts, lowfat or otherwise, right?

Still, those cinnamon buns looked crazy yummy...sigh. ; )
Two weeks of eating none stop! Mcm vogok(ask any Sabahan what is vogok :P) ba org bilang. Now my weight is 72.6kg. My pants where loose when I got to KK but when it was time to go home, it was sooo tight! Yes, I didn't take any precaution on eating. No teamix, no Herbalife.

I immediately started drinking my shakes last night. Thankfully I'll be fasting for 6 more days soon.

I've managed to convince my mom to buy Herbalife shakes for my brother. I know it's going to be quite hard for him to change his eating habit. He's a couple more kg's to 100kgs. But I'm quite happy that he agreed to try it anyway even though starting with 1 shakes per day.

You Have to Exercise...

Bron won a 12-week employee weight-loss contest and $3,000 in cash. He lost 60 pounds.

He says; "You have to exercise. There is no way around it. It's tough sometimes; you work all day, you're tired, and that couch looks mighty comfortable."

Check out his story here.

Sweet Tea Drinker Cuts the Habit

Here's an interesting weight loss story from a recent comment on the post "Drinking Water to Lose Weight";

Hello. I was an avid sweet tea drinker. I drank about 3/4 of a gallon a day. I decided that I was tired of being chubby. (I have never been what you would call fat but maybe pudgy in the middle is fair to say) Anyway I cut that out and went to unsweet iced tea (no calories) and along with that started to drink 4 32 oz. cups of water a day. In 8 weeks I lost 25 pounds. It was like it just fell in the floor. I also love fresh fruit so I ate fruit and veggies and cereal. I cut out fried foods as well. I think that you have to look at the whole picture and not just one thing.

Happy Friday Clean Eaters,Glad you all enjoyed the Portland pics from vacation. I am happy to have all my little ducks in a row at home... meaning my daughters. The house has definitely been much more lively with all the kids and 3 guests at home. I've been frequenting the grocery store because I can't stay on top of the amount of veg, fruit and eggs that are flying out of the refrigerator. We're

Okay, so I'm fluctuating in the low'70s, which is better than fluctuating in the mid or high '70's as I had been all year. Today, 272, which is actually a relief, since I had steamed dumplings, Ma Po Tofu, and Egg Drop Soup yesterday for dinner, meaning oodles of salt. I think without the salty Chinese food, I might have stayed a pound or more lower. The fruit I had for a snack must have helped balance the sodium, too. I normally go up 3 lbs or more with Chinese food.

So, today, I got up very late--5:30 pm. I've been going to bed in the AM when hubby is getting ready for work, and sleeping till some time in the PM. The asthma started its summer excacerbation last month, on and off, depending on how stormy. Started getting wheezy last Thursday and had a bad weekend, but a bit better in the past two days, though not normal. So, I've been trying to eat more "whole" for the nutrients to fight the immunological and respiratory weakness.

So, today, for my first meal, I had pear juice (no sugar added), raw bell pepper soup (very refreshing, sort of like a non-tomato gazpacho), and raw vegan "angelhair marinara), which was surprisingly delicious. My new fave raw entree from VEGGIEMUNN. The raw sauce was perfect and the angelhair way of making strings out of the yellow squash was even nicer than the thicker raw pasta primavera that had been my fave of theirs previously. That one (the latter) had no tomatoey sauce, but a veggie blend and herb one.

I was disappointed they didn't have the Mango Lassi raw pie this week. Last week, I got one, and it was so amazingly good, I wanted to order a bunch this week if available. But they made a puree/pudding in the Mango Lassi style, and it just wasn't the faboo thing that the pie was. The pie had actual slices of mango in the spiced sauce (with cardamon and rose water). The texture makes a big difference, plus the pie just is more mangoey. If you're in the South Florida area and like raw foods, you might want to check out VEGGIEMUNN, and try the Mango Lassi raw pie!

Yesterday, I picked up my organic coop box (full share and an added two shares of fruit, as I love fruit, especially summer fruit). So, I'm loaded for produce to fight the summer respirator blues. I plan to have nectarines, raspberries, strawberries, cherries, grapes, watermelon, and a mango later with my next meals/snack. I have kale I can roast and fresh green beans to saute. I also have tasty sweet onions that I can put into an omelette for dinner, along with organic spinach and zucchini. I might make a smoothie out of the berries, so I can get some calcium.

It's been interesting being part of an organic food coop. It forces me to try new stuff, since you don't pick and choose. They do. I never had fresh peas, or beets, or kiwi. (I still don't like kiwi.) Most of the stuff I get is useful to me, and hubby has a very limited produce palette, so it's mostly for me. I do find I enjoy it more in summer, as the fruit is terrific. before that, you mostly got berries, pears, and apples. I also get to meet new people, which I don't normally do, being so much of a recluse.

I did fine with Pilates on Monday, despite not being 100% respiratorily. My trainer commented on the improved upper body strength, which I did notice myself, so that felt good. I'm officially into my second year at this form of exercise, and I wonder how much better my strength and flexibility will be next summer. I hope I can be at least 25 lbs lighter then, too. I don't set big goals anymore. I never make them, so forget it. Too stressful.

Now, if only hurricanes can stay away, and my bronchii can buck up, my summer may not be unpleasant. :)

Hope everyone out there is well.
Breathing a sigh of relief. Photoshoots are done for the day and I finally have a second to sit down and get in touch with my blog. As I mentioned yesterday, my family and I had a wonderful adventure in Portland. We were there partly for vaca and partly to move my daughter out of her place. Enjoy the photos of our family fun in the city with bumper stickers that say "Keep Portland Weird."Here my

22 Year Olds Reach Goal Weight

Today I witnessed a reunion of two 22 year old guys who met again for the first time since hanging out together when they were seventeen.

My nephew (Paul) from Germany was obese when he started a one year student exchange program at a highschool near Seattle. He made a close friendship with Eric who was a very skinny guy at the time. They really connected and have kept in touch over the years but just saw each other for the first time in five years yesterday.

Now Paul is at his goal weight. He lost the weight three or four years ago, then gained some back but is again in top form this year. His friend Eric, in the meantime, joined a gym about a year ago, and liked it so much he decided to work there as the sales manager. He's gained 40 pounds and it looks like his weight gain is 100% muscle. They both look and feel fantastic. And after five years of not seeing each other they fell right back into their close friendship. They are very both highly ambitious and happy with their lives and it was great to see them today.

Saturday's Tosca: Flexing at 49 brought back some crazy memories. I managed to catch the episode on Sunday morning with my daughters. What did you think of little Leiden? I loved going back to my Dutch roots. Can't wait for next weeks episode. I wonder what it will be??
If you've been following my Twitter you are well aware we had some adventures on the way home from Portland, Oregon. What was supposed to be a 1-day journey from the west coast turned into a 2-day adventure with an overnight in Vancouver, BC. Our flights were delayed and rerouted and connections were missed. We were there for a vacation, but also to move my daughter out of her apartment, which

The Best iPhone App for Weight Loss

If you are one of the 15% of American households who own an iPhone or iPod Touch than you may have already noticed you can download tons of free apps from their apps store that are related to helping people lose weight.

Currently, the one that is by far most popular is called the Lose It! app.

It's really easy to use to keep a count of the calories you consume each day and the amount of calories you burn with exercise. You can set a goal to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week and this app will help you get there.

Personally, I just love my iPod Touch. I bought one for about $240 last November and I use it for all my walks to listen to really fascinating podcasts put out by NPR, the New York Times, Zencast, Leo Laporte and tons of others. My walking is now regularly around 25 miles a week and I finally reached my goal weight a few weeks ago and feel really great!

See you again soon InsyaAllah!

Note to self: Done bayar puasa for 3 days. 6 more days to go.
